Make Sure Your Business Does Not Become A Job

The Right Business. Choosing the wrong business can be detrimental too. The reason most folks start their own business is to get away from the 9-5 of working for someone else. The businesses that a lot of people choose may have a few of these qualities, however be aware your business does not become another job.

Lets look at the business model carefully, if you need your business to provide you with a respectable income but also give you more time, as certain business models could give you the income but not necessarily any more time. Some business models in fact dictate that you need to spend more time working in the business than you could have done working in your old nine to five occupation, especially if you are the sole boss and worker in he business. Lets take for example you decide to open up a shop and to get it going you have to work in the shop to serve your customers then actually you are still at work, the only difference is you own your work place. Outside the shop opening hours will be time spent to find stock as well. The owner might also have to consider time spent doing the book keeping and accounts where necessary.

A lot of extra time could have to be put in to cover the other necessary jobs particularly if your store is open seven days a week. This put a strain on my colleague who had his coats for dogs business. The shop example is only one type of business that can be classed as just a glorified job that you own yourself. Running a driving school franchise could work out that you are running your own business but really for someone else’s benefit in the long run. The time aspect may not be any better as you are there all the time but the source of income should at least be better. With these businesses you only get paid if you turn up to work. As well as performing all the driving part, there is also the job of keeping the motor clean and doing all the tax and phone calls to make outside that time.

Then what in fact makes a good business? Well you want your business to give you a passive source of income, what I mean by that is the source of income should be coming in without you having to be at work to obtain it. Buying rental properties is a skillful way to obtain a passive income. The tenant is paying you rent each month and you do not even have to be there.

Passive income may also be gained online. Running a dog clothes business from home would have been a much better method for my friend and he could have had the products drop shipped. Many websites might produces money without you having to be there as long as it is set up correctly, then that could be another form of passive income. No doubt there are other business you might set up where you don’t need to be there but the money keeps coming in. however always choose a business that has less hands on work with other people.
